Meet Our Scottsdale Family Dentist
Dr. Pourya Shahnaz
Dr. Shahnaz received his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in Electrical Engineering with a sub-speciality in electromagnetics. He was awarded membership in the Eta Kappa Nu Honors Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Over the subsequent years, his interest grew in dentistry. Dr. Shahnaz continued his education and received his doctorate from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA where he performed all phases of dentistry at the New England Medical Center.
In addition to working in private practice since 2012, Dr. Shahnaz is an attending dental physician at the Phoenix Hospital. He holds two adjunct faculty positions at the Arizona School of Dentistry and New York Langone Medical Center, where he teaches dental residents specialty procedures in oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontology.
With his unique blend of engineering and dentistry, Dr. Shahnaz believes the synergy of technology and medicine allows him to provide his patients with the optimal level of care. He is currently one of only a handful of dentists in the world working with MIT research engineers in dental artificial intelligence.
In his free time, Dr. Shahnaz loves to spend time with his family, play piano, and is a huge collector of rare latin records from the 60’s and 70’s!
